Welcome to Phidippides Track Club

Yep, track season is back with some big changes for this year - join us on Tuesdays and get faster!

Phidippides Track Club one of Denver's oldest running clubs and the only one dedicated to track-specific training for runners and fitness enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Our mission is to enhance quality of life, promote social interaction, and develop physical fitness and wellness through running for fun and competition. We provide scheduled interval track workouts and social activities to improve the knowledge and enjoyment of running and training.

Members receive a 15% discount at area running stores (see links to their sites below). The cost savings on a couple of pairs of shoes could pay for the annual dues alone! See the Register page for more details.

Please join us Tuesdays at 5:45 PM, March through October at the track next to Belleview Elementary. Whether you're a sub-5 minute miler or prefer a more leisurely 12 minute/mile pace, we have members running at your speed. Not sure of your speed, we'll help you find the right group to run with - come join us for our next workout! We have made some exciting changes to our workout approach this year - see the workout page for the details.

We always need help with articles for the website and welcome anything that might be of interest to club members - training tips, a race story, nutrition or gear - pass it on to your fellow members. Send articles to Jay/Jeff and they'll get it posted. We want your feedback - please let us know what you think.

Email the webteam or tell Jay and Jeff at track.

See you at the track!

Track Etiquette Reminder

Remember to move to the right lanes when slowing down during recoveries and especially when you hear "Track" called by a faster runner behind you. We want to make sure everybody has a safe and productive workout and that nobody gets run over - ouch! Please respect other runners as we are all here to support each other and have fun too.

Also, try to stay with your pace group during the workout. If you're feeling faster than your group after starting then it's fine to move up to a faster group during the workout. Likewise, it's also perfectly OK to drop back to a slower group if you're feeling slower or tired during the course of the workout. The idea is to stay with a group so the track doesn't end up getting scattered with a lot of individuals dodging each other!

Go Steve at 2009 Worlds!

Congratulations to our coach Steve Pye who will be the official head coach of the Team USA age groupers competing at the ITU Age Group World Championship in Gold Coast, Australia, in September. Steve is excited and honored to have this opportunity to help Team USA perform during the 2009 Worlds. As many of you know, Steve is a Level II USA Triathlon Certified Coach and offers coaching services to local athletes through his company Practical Coaching. His international racing experience and longevity in endurance sports creates the foundation of his coaching philosophy. We are very pleased to have Steve be a key part of Phidippides and offer his skills and experience in developing and leading our workouts.
